Last year saw The Walking Who leap into the foresight of the general public and music industry tastemakers alike. The release of their debut EP Mansions in September has led to many accolades, including snagging the spot as FBi Band of the Month, and support slots with The Growlers, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Delta Riggs, The Drones, Dappled Cities, Palms and Sticky Fingers.

With the imminent release of their next EP, the Sydney-based outfit are keeping the momentum going with live shows on the horizon alongside Dune Rats, Shining Bird and Wolf & Cub. The recording of the next EP was not without trials though, with the guys getting moved on from multiple, makeshift, backyard studios, due to the repetition of loud and obscure noises echoing through residential settlements (including the last incident with a brick through a host's glass window). After tracking they recruited their good pal Rudy from The Delta Riggs to mix the first single, “With Roses”.

The majority of the writing process took place in the idyllic setting of Byron Bay, which the band admit unexpectedly influenced their sound. Remnants of folk and country can be heard, mixed with equal parts positivity and darkness.

“As you can imagine, the EP took a different turn thematically to a darker place (after the brick situation) and the first taste of this is ‘With Roses’ - although this song seemed to cling to those initial feelings of optimism,” says The Walking Who.

Their debut CD "Odysseum Galacti" is very trippy and features the original lineup for most of the album, and two songs from the trio of Paul/Greg/Deb. The followup "Creature of the Velvet Void" shows advancement from pure space freakout to more song orientation. "Viva", a live album from 2000 shows the instrumental power the band can bring as a trio. "Other Music" showcases the new trio with Murph on drums, a significant improvement in instrumental power. The next release, "Everything You Know is Wrong" is the most complete fusion of their talents, NEU meets AMON DUUL 2, with a healthy dollop of HAWKWIND, ASH RA and OZRIC TENTACLES thrown in.

Highly recommended for any krautrock or space rock fans, and one of the cream of the new wave of US space rock of the late 90's. Look for them also on KING CRIMSON, GENESIS tribs and the Space Box compilation, all on Cleopatra.
