Band Of Susans
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_Susans wrote:In the early to mid-1980s, Poss studied under the tutelage of avant-garde guitar ensemble composer Rhys Chatham, and played in the bands Tot Rocket and Western Eyes. The band was formed by avant-garde flautist Susan Stenger and guitarist Robert Poss, they took their name from the trio of Susans then in the lineup.[2] Poss, Stenger, and Spitzer grew up together in Buffalo, New York.[3]
Band of Susans released the 12" EP Blessing And Curse on Poss's own Trace Elements label. A record-release party (also said to be the band's first-ever live gig) was held at NYC's The Love Club on January 31, 1987; BoS were the opening act for a band called Das Furlines. They were soon signed to the avant-garde Blast First imprint of UK record label Mute Records.
After the release of début album Hope Against Hope, Rogers, Lyall and Tallman quit, and were replaced by Karen Haglof (guitar) and Page Hamilton (guitar). This lineup recorded the album Love Agenda and a Peel Sessions EP, which featured a cover of Gang Of Four's "I Found That Essence Rare." The two new guitarists then quit, with Hamilton quickly forming the more metal-influenced Helmet. Anne Husick (guitar) and Mark Lonergan (guitar) then joined BoS, yielding the band's "classic lineup" which made three more albums and one EP, all on Restless Records.
According to The Great Indie Discography compilation, "...unfortunately, success is the one thing that has eluded the Band of Susans and Co. throughout their decade-plus lifespan

Yussuf Jerusalem
http://www.bornbadrecords.net/releases/yussuf-jerusalem-a-heart-full-of-sorrow/ wrote:
A dillusioned album for broken hearts, A heart full of sorrow is the work of Benjamin Daures, 24 years old, heir against his will of a tradition of loner, which from Ian Curtis, through Morissey, to Kurt Cobain, played everything they had on a record.
their lives were saved (for a while, at least) by Rock\’n Roll. Made in his surburbian bedroom while smoking joints, A heart full of sorrow is a first album, dreaming of other places (the Death Valley or the dry plain of Texas, you chose) as a way to escape the local boredom, the gloominess of Paris\’ outskirts.
Draft ballads, thrown on a 8 track like break up letters to these stalling teenage years.
Benjamin here plays all the instruments : A skullish drum machine, a shy guitare, and uncomfident vocals… While listening attentively, you understand that the fragileness is the force here, that\’s his style is forged in his akwardness that never sound like a pose. We\’re talking about sincerity, nakedness, a striking will of not hiding behind the primitive energy of Garage-Rock, to put back songwriting into angrily-played songs.
Think here of missed Jay Reatard.
released 14 April 2010
The Triffids
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Triffids wrote:The Triffids were an Australian alternative rock and pop band, formed in Perth in Western Australia in May 1978 with David McComb as singer-songwriter, guitarist, bass guitarist and keyboardist.[1][2][3][4] They achieved negligible success in Australia, but greater success in the UK and in Scandinavia in the 1980s before disbanding in 1989.[1][2] Some of their best-known songs include "Wide Open Road" (February 1986) and "Bury Me Deep in Love" (October 1987). SBS television featured their 1986 album, Born Sandy Devotional, on the Great Australian Albums series in 2007,[5] and in 2010 it ranked 5th in the book The 100 Best Australian Albums by Toby Creswell, Craig Mathieson and John O'Donnell.[6]
The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) recognised The Triffids' importance on 1 July 2008 when inducting them into the Hall of Fame.[7][8] Music historian Ian McFarlane declared,
"The Triffids remain one of Australia's best-loved, post-punk groups [...] McComb was an authoritative singer and accomplished songwriter [...] he infused his melancholy songs with stark yet beautiful and uniquely Australian imagery. Few songwriters managed to capture the feeling of isolation and fatalistic sense of despair of the Australian countryside."[1]
The Triffids and The Go-Betweens (from Brisbane) were two of the most literate and evocative Australian bands of the 1980s,[citation needed] both formed outside the mainstream Sydney-Melbourne pop/rock nexus.
The Baudelaires
https://www.facebook.com/TheBaudelaires/ wrote:Musk Hill is the debut full-length from Melbourne's The Baudelaires. Stomping through the dreamy, substance-induced house-party haze of their previous EP Be a Baudelaire! (2014), the new album delves into the crunchin' boogie of psych-garage territory. Recorded over 3 days on a property of the same name on the Mornington Peninsula, Musk Hill was mixed by Baudelaire's own Grischa Zahren and mastered by Melbourne music legend Mikey Young.
Having toured South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales on several occasions, been invited to play such festivals as Chopped Rod and Custom, Happy Wanderer, Rolling Stone Live Lodge and shared the stage with the like of Cosmic Psychos, Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, King Salami and the Cumberland 3 (UK), Peep Tempel and more, The Baudelaires are eager for their album's release.
Two first two singles lifted from the album; Colour Mary and Foxglove, both received rotation on community radio in Melbourne, interstate and overseas. The next two singles were released simultaneously in accordance with the release of the album: the thumping Side B opener Bomber Dan, as well as the loaded slow-burning album closer Dweller, which includes a mind-altering film clip created by Tobias Willis.
Their upcoming album was recorded in a house of the same name on the Mornington Peninsula. Mixed by Grischa Zahren of the band and mastered by Mikey Young, Musk Hill was released into the worl in November 2016 through Off The Hip and Colourtone Records.
