Rock and pop not didgeridoos
More and more often I get to like a band or a song and later on realize the band is Australian or the song is by an Australian artist. Some of the bands are already featured here on this lovely forum, but I'd like to get 'em all together in this topic, if you don't mind. By all means, join in!

*Fun fact: prior to becoming Australia's prime minister, Bob Hawke entered the Guinness book of records after downing a yard of ale (1,4 liters) in 11 seconds.

Absolute favorite, I would dare say this band to me is up there with AC/DC. I really believe that if we we "brainwash" and "bomb" people with the music these guys make via TV&internet&radio it would be a better world. I tested it on small groups of friends, music lovers and the average listeners, and the results were pleasing to both me and the test subjects.

Next we have these guys, authors of my favorite (Australian) punk rock song, and one of my fave songs in general, which is:



Years ago, pregnancy tests were performed by injecting rabbits with the woman's urine. In order to see if the woman were pregnant the rabbit had to be killed, and its ovaries examined. Although the rabbit ALWAYS died, it became common for a woman to tell someone she was pregnant by saying "the rabbit died"
So, thank you mother for the rabbit means to thank your mother that you are alive.

Cosmic Psychos had an enormous impact on the whole "grunge" thing.

It's no secret Aussies worship Iggy Pop. It must have something to do with the blonde hair.

Named after a Melbourne suburb, Lower Plenty are comprised of some of the city's most talented musicians, the quartet of Daniel Twomey, Jensen Tjhung, Sarah Heyward and Al Montfort hail from various other bands such as Deaf Wish, Total Control, UV Race and The Focus. A departure from the harsher sounds of their other projects, Lower Plenty create beautifully melancholy, suburban-country music that's made (and often performed) while sitting around the kitchen table.

Noise Rock from Melbourne, great great band. Three LP's and a single behind them, if you like one you'll like them all. Four band members, three of which switch on the vocal duties.
