Quitty & The Don'ts
http://hiddenvolume.com/album/running-out-of-time wrote: Quitty and the Don’ts, band coming from NY and colleague of other favorite bands of this blog like Electric Mess and Above . This is her second single, the first was a super limited edition that I fear will never end in my hands, is part of the Factory Series collection where already left a single Kaics the Ar recommended. Side A begins with “Running out of time” where Matt Clarke (Above) hits you in the pit of my stomach doing the four strings of his bass vibrate, the sounds of the Kinks and the Hollies come together in a theme loaded bright guitars and tambourines nerve. The B side contains another issue to worship this band, if you love Nerve Optic or Nashville Rambles you’ll go crazy for this group when you hear “(She’s Gonna) Break your heart” pure 60s sound in the XXI century, just over four minutes of pop magic in all its glory."

The Nocounts
http://www.last.fm/music/The+Nocounts wrote:The Nocounts formed back in ‘98 in a small industrial town called Eskilstuna, by 4 childhood friends with an urge to create some of the coolest sounds and screams ever recorded, inspired by the great groups of the sixties (see influences). Later on they recruited Patrik Kolar, the magnificent organ/hammond magician that made the pieces fit! Still kickin’ as we speak and still looking for lost and depraved souls to convert.
Max Frost And The Troopers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Frost_and_the_Troopers wrote:Max Frost and The Troopers was a fictional rock music group created for the exploitation film Wild in the Streets, released in 1968. The film featured Christopher Jones as the highly influential singer Max Frost. The songs performed by Frost and his band, a group that was never formally named in the film, was credited to Max Frost and the Troopers in subsequent singles and album. The band name "Troopers" is based on the term "troops," the designation Frost used in the film to refer to his friends and followers.
A studio group appeared on the soundtrack album for the film, along with incidental music penned by Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, and composed by Les Baxter, however the songs were not originally credited to Max Frost and the Troopers, but rather to The 13th Power.
Due to the success of the song "Shape of Things To Come" as a single, an accompanying album by Max Frost and The Troopers, Shape of Things to Come, was issued on the Tower record label in 1968. Musicians playing on the album are believed to include members of Davie Allan and The Arrows (who also released the "Shapes of Things to Come" without lyrics), with lead vocals by Paul Wibier (who also wrote a majority of the songs on the album). The music is high-energy rock with some psychedelic touches.
The group was produced by Harley Hatcher and Eddie Beram for Mike Curb Productions. Their first single was recorded with Curb's Tower subsidiary, Sidewalk Records. Subsequent singles were taken from their album.
Their final single, "Sittin' In Circles," was performed in the film Three in the Attic, by Davie Allan and the Arrows. The B-side of that single, "Paxton Quigley's Had The Course," was a Chad & Jeremy composition.
The soundtrack album for the 1968 film The Glory Stompers, starring Dennis Hopper, contains two additional songs credited to Max Frost and the Troopers: "There's A Party Going On" (which was released as their first single) and "You Might Want Me Baby."
Later, "Max Frost and the Troopers: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" was released which included the singles from the original "Shape of Things to Come" LP and included an additional four songs - "Wild in the Streets", "Listen to Music", "Love to Be Your Man", and "Fourteen or Fight". None of these four songs have ever been released on CD.
The cultural historian Greil Marcus borrowed the Troopers' song title for his 2006 book, "The Shape of Things to Come: Prophecy & The American Voice."

Manganzoides
http://www.allmusic.com/artist/manganzoides-mn0001898948/biography wrote:Manganzoides started bringing the garage rock craziness to Lima, Peru, in 1996. They began with self-released cassettes, including 1998's self-titled effort and Mas Dosis two years later in 2000. But while the releases kept the South American trash rock scene salivating for more Manganzoides, the band's international rep was left to the occasional interview or compilation appearance. That changed with the 2002 issue of Sobredosis de Horror by Ann Arbor, MI-based label No Fun. The set featured both new and old material, and was the combo's first internationally-distributed release. Manganzoides followed that with 2004's Radio Komodo, featuring both new material and tracks resurrected from one of those ancient cassette releases. At that point the band's lineup consisted of vocalist Rafo, guitarist Gonzaleo, keyboardist Diego, bassist Ali, and drummer Tito.
The Belfast Gypsies
http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-belfast-gypsies-mn0000597819/biography wrote:The Belfast Gypsies were a direct spin-off of Them, featuring two members who had been in Them for differing spells in the mid-'60s: singer/organist/multi-instrumentalist Jackie McAuley and his brother, drummer Pat McAuley (sometimes also known as John McAuley). With a style very similar to early Them, the Gypsies hooked up with Kim Fowley on one of his London visits in mid-'66. Fowley produced most of the material that ended up on their sole LP (preceded by a couple of unsuccessful singles), which was issued in Scandinavia in August, 1967. A bit of an anachronistic throwback to the R&B/beat-boom sound of a couple years earlier, the LP is a successful approximation of Them's sound, the major drawback being the absence of Van Morrison.
Because of packaging that often found the record filed under Them rather than The Belfast Gypsies, and because the band's history was generally ill-documented, few British Invasion groups with a cult following among collectors have had their history as garbled or misrepresented as The Belfast Gypsies. It was only after the first legitimate reissue of the album on CD, more than 35 years later, that the group's true tale emerged. The story is incredibly complex for a band that issued only one LP (and a posthumous one, at that), but basically, the group formed when Them's lineup underwent a particularly volatile shakeup in the middle of 1965. When the smoke cleared, there were actually two different bands laying claim to the Them name. One of them, the famous Them, was headed by Van Morrison, with bassist Alan Henderson the only other original member. The other Them was formed by Pat McAuley and Them's original guitarist, Billy Harrison, and included drummer Skip Alan, bassist Mark Scott, and singer Nick Wymer (who had been in the Pretty Things-like group the Fairies).
In late 1965 and early 1966, both groups continued to compete for the Them name, the dispute eventually ending up in court. In the meantime the Harrison-McAuley lineup playing as Them underwent its own lineup shuffles, with Harrison quitting and Skip Alan leaving to join the Pretty Things, briefly replaced by Viv Prince (who Alan himself, ironically, was replacing in the Pretty Things). By the beginning of 1966, the personnel had settled into a quartet with Pat McAuley on drums; his brother Jackie McAuley on lead vocals, organ, harmonica, and occasionally other instruments; guitarist Ken McLeod; and bassist Mark Scott (though all of the musicians played other instruments in addition to their primary ones). In March 1966, however, it was ruled that the name Them belonged to the group headed by Van Morrison, although the ruling only applied in the U.K.. The Pat McAuley band was allowed to play in the U.K. under the name the Other Them, with a much lower visibility on the British circuit than the Van Morrison-fronted Them enjoyed.
In May 1966, Kim Fowley met the band and took them into the studio for a few sessions; a final session was recorded without Fowley in Copenhagen at the end of June. Having made little headway in the U.K., they spent most of the summer and the fall of 1966 touring Scandinavia, where they were allowed to use the name Them. Oddly, they never once played live under the name The Belfast Gypsies, although this is the name that they used for their debut single on Island Records that year, "Gloria's Dream"/"Secret Police." Although they had fair success in Scandinavia, the group disbanded near the end of 1966, with only Jackie McAuley going on to do much subsequent recording, both as part of the folk-rock duo Trader Horne (with ex-Fairport Convention singer Judy Dyble) and as a solo artist.
When The Belfast Gypsies LP did come out about nine months after the group disbanded, it bore the title Them Belfast Gypsies, with the name Them in huge lettering as part of the album's title on the sleeve. Understandably, then, many collectors have assumed that the album should be credited to Them, rather than to The Belfast Gypsies. Additionally, it's often been written that The Belfast Gypsies were formed after Van Morrison left Them in 1966, with one part of the remaining group (led by Alan Henderson) taking the Them name, and the other billing themselves as The Belfast Gypsies. This, too, is not the case; although Henderson did indeed continue to play and record in a different Them lineup after Morrison left; The Belfast Gypsies had in fact formed back in 1965 (albeit not under that name), about a year before Morrison left Them. As yet another point of confusion, one posthumous Belfast Gypsies single was issued under a yet different name, the Freaks of Nature (which the band never played as while they were together as a unit). It's a tough story to keep straight, but luckily it did result in a worthwhile album, heartily recommended to Them fans, whether you find it filed under the Them or The Belfast Gypsies' name.

The Nebulas
http://www.thenebulas.com/crew.htm wrote: Origins: The Nebulas are the result of a powerful chemical reaction that occurred when elements of a highly-developed west coast guitar sound fused with a thunderous East Coast rhythm section in the early months of 2001. In the fall of 2000, California-based guitarist Mike Dominguez (The Sand Dunes & The Aquatones) packed up his double-digit collection of Fender guitars & amplifiers and headed east to the Ocean State of Rhode Island. It was there that he teamed up with the preliminary members of The Nebulas resulting in "Hot Rods, Waves & Women", a brief 7-song demo (now long out of print and highly sought after) which introduced The Nebulas as a viable component of the 21st century's ever-evolving surf/instro scene. To achieve the optimum live sound, as well as augment future recorded works, the Nebulas recruited Dan-O Ware on the Fender Jaguar guitar as the fourth Nebula.
Nebula One: In March 2002, after the combo's full-length debut, "Nebula One," hit the streets in a shower of critical praise and radio airplay, another Sand Dunes' alumnus joined the folds of The Nebulas in the form of Eric Grammer on the bass guitar. With its lineup solidified, the band began performing in earnest, playing high profile shows on both coasts (and places in between like Akron, Ohio) with the likes of The Red Elvises, Junior Brown, The Boss Martians, Slacktone, The Hypnotic IV, The Infrareds and Pollo Del Mar, among others. After a successful west coast tour in the fall of 2002, yielding the Double Crown Records release, "KFJC - Live at The Pit," from a performance on the legendary Phil Dirt's Los Altos Hills radio show, the band returned to New England to commence work on their next studio effort.
It's Go Time!: In October 2003, during the mixing phase of their 2nd CD, the band was hastily summoned to Europe to liberate the low countries of Belgium and Holland with a 10-day offensive, during which many songs from the new album would be showcased. With demand for a new The Nebulas CD now at a fever pitch, the band released "It's Go Time" in January 2004 & immediately began rehearsing for a second tour of Europe - a mission successfully accomplished in April. Now officially based in eastern Massachusetts, this fusion of east meets west has produced a unique, full-bodied musical phenomenon that has impressed live audiences throughout North America & Western Europe, in addition to being featured on myriad surf/instro radio programs and compilation projects the world over. The Nebulas are currently writing and recording material for their third studio release and are in the early stages of planning their next California tour, scheduled for 2005.
Self-Titled: In the winter months of '05, the band closed the armored door to their super-secret training facility located in an abandoned textile mill campus somewhere at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and began the tedious work of reorganizing the fine metal shavings attached to a stack of 3M analog tape reels into something resembling a D-day-esque aural assault on the world's ears. Some say mission:accomplished, others say "You should have had it mastered". Be your own judge...
The Untamed Youth
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Untamed_Youth wrote:The Untamed Youth were a mid-1980s garage rock band from Columbia, MO, led by Deke Dickerson, who is best known as the frontman for Deke Dickerson & the Eccofonics. Original members (1986) were Deke Dickerson, Steve Mace, Doug Walker and Joel Trueblood (Alcohol Funnycar, Neko Case). The Untamed Youth first performed in Columbia at local club The Blue Note in January 1987, and quickly started playing locations throughout the United States between the years 1988–1993. The group disbanded in August 1993, but later reformed for a European tour in 1996 and to record two studio albums for both the Estrus and Norton labels in 1997 and 1998 respectively. The Youth were primarily a '60s-styled surf/frat rock band known for their wild stage antics such as spraying the audience with cans of beer and for their self-deprecating sense of humor (most notably to be found on their last album for Norton, 'Youth Runs Wild'). All this, while holding a true reverence for their influences… ”the gods whose grooves they hammer home are the stars on a hundred forgotten 45's, their sacred texts "Surfin' Hearse" and "Go Go Ferrari." They're best live, but their Nineties LPs "Some Kinda Fun" and "More Gone Gassers" (Norton) surge with power; do not run other appliances when playing these in your home”.[1] While their live shows were generally hard-edged, their albums are notably well-produced and arranged particularly their early Norton work, which was produced by Billy Miller of Norton Records and Andy Shernoff of The Dictators. These early Norton albums “capture(d) the supercharged atmosphere created whenever the Untamed Youth filled a teen club or tavern”.[2] Despite considerable local success and strong critical acclaim (including album reviews in Goldmine, Alternative Press, and Maximum Rock & Roll), the band followed many of their garage rock brethren into obscurity due to the (at the time) limited appeal of 1960’s retro music. However, as has often been the case with bands of this genre, the Youth gradually acquired a cult status as is evidenced by their reuniting recently for festivals in both the U.S. and Europe. The band's first albums, "Some Kinda Fun" and "More Gone Gassers" are now highly sought after collector’s items on vinyl.
Cavemanish Boys

It is Sprinkler guitarist Chris Slusarenko that dishes out the freak-out fuzz guitar in this lineup. The Dharma Bums rhythm section of Jim Talstra (drums) and John Moen come along. Like the Miracle Workers, the Cavemanish Boys become so frenzied in their rawk as to border on punk ("Come on Baby").
The Higher State

The band is currently working on demos for their fourth LP due to be recorded in the spring and released later in the year.

Randell was previously of the Rockin' Saints and the Royal Teens, who had a hit with "Short Shorts" in 1958. They took their name from Knickerbocker Road, which ran through the town next to their hometown.[1]
The classic line-up consisted of Randell, the Charles brothers and drummer Jimmy Walker (previously the drummer with the Massena, New York-based Atco Records act The Castle Kings).
